How do I request an item through interlibrary loan?

Answer

You can create an interlibrary loan request from the item's bibliographic record in our catalog, or by completing our interlibrary loan request form. When creating the request from an item's record, the request form will automatically be populated with the request information. See the following instructions on how to create a request from a blank form:

  1. Go to Steely Library's homepage and under the Library Services tab select Interlibrary Loan
  2. Sign in with your NKU username and password
  3. Choose the correct form based on the item you are requesting: Article/Book Chapter, Book, or Other/AV
  4. When filling out the request, please try to provide as much information as you can about the item that you are requesting. This can help locate the item more quickly.
    • For articles, please provide the journal's ISSN number
    • For books, please provide the ISBN number
  5. Please be sure to fill out all required fields on the form.
  6. If you have any questions about this form, please contact us at sourcefinder@nku.edu or 859-572-6167.
