How do I find a particular book or resource on the library’s shelves?
Answer
To find a book or resource on the library’s shelves, follow these steps:
- Go to the library website.
- Select the "Books & Media" tab under “Start my Research” to access the library catalog. By searching within this tab, your results will be limited to eBooks, physical books, and other media in our collection.
- Search for the book using its title, author, or keywords to get the call number. You should write down the entire call number, in order to quickly find it in our stacks. See the screenshot below with what the call number will look like in our catalog.
- Use the letters that begin the call number to identify what floor of Steely Library your item is located on. 1st Floor (A-N); 2nd Floor (P-Z).
- Once you're on the correct floor, use the signage at the end of each aisle to find the range of call numbers that match the call number you have.
- Lost? Confused? Ask a member of Public Services for help if you have trouble finding the book.
